What Can You Afford?
Will you be renting alone? Do you plan on having a roommate or two to help cover the rent? How big of a house are you interested in? These are questions that you have to ask yourself to determine your budget. Be sure to factor in your other expenses (electric, cable, student loans, etc.) as well to figure out how much you can spend on a month to month basis. Once you have a number in mind, you can begin your search!
Location, Location, Location
There are plenty of amazing neighborhoods here along the Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach, so deciding where to live can be difficult. It also depends on your budget. For example, if you LOVE the ocean and want to live within a few blocks of it, rent can be more expensive for a smaller living space. For that same sized house, you can pay a lot less further away from the coast. Your best bet is to consider where you work and where you enjoy spending your time away from work. Murrells Inlet offers a spectacular nightlife, while Conway is a little more laid back. It really depends on your lifestyle.
The House Itself
In an ideal world, the house you would like to rent has never been lived in, is right near the beach, has a lot of square footage and is inexpensive. In reality, you can probably attain one or two of those attributes. If you have realistic expectations and a decent budget, you will without a doubt find something that is just right for you. If you have the time, take it and explore your options. Find a house that is conveniently located, is in good shape and is in your budget.
The Owner/Management Company
As a property management company here in Myrtle Beach, we want to make sure that both the owner and the tenant are happy. For the owner, we want to make sure that they are receiving a tenant that has been properly screened, will pay their rent on time and be respectful of their property. For you, the tenant, we will ensure that repairs (if need be) are done in a timely manner and that the owner is fair to you as far as pricing. We have been in business here along the Grand Strand for many years, so trust us when we say you are in good hands!
